In 2017, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced a pilot program for online EBT purchases. The Online Purchasing Pilot allows EBT Cardholders to shop for groceries online for delivery or pick-up.

Initially, the program was only approved for select states. In 2019, the first state program launched in New York.

Today, the EBT Online Program has been approved for over 47 states, including Georgia.

Due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, more states were pushing to be approved for the Online Purchasing Pilot. As a result, the USDA approved several more states for the program at a rapid rate.

When the USDA launched the program in 2017, each state was paired with specific grocery merchants that were approved for EBT shoppers in that state.

For Georgia SNAP customers, placing an online grocery order is simple. Here’s how you can purchase groceries online at Walmart with your Georgia EBT Card.

  1. Visit the Walmart Grocery website
  2. Enter your ZIP Code
  3. Choose your pick-up location
  4. Shop online for groceries by adding them to your cart
  5. Select an available pick-up time
  6. Checkout and choose “EBT Card” as payment
  7. Visit your Walmart store at your scheduled pick-up time
  8. Give your Georgia EBT Card to the associate to pay for your order

When will more grocery stores be added to the list for the pilot? 

As the USDA Pilot rolls the program to more states, more retailers will be launching the ability to pay with SNAP EBT online.

How do I check my Georgia EBT Card balance?

You can check your Georgia balance online, in-person, or by phone. To complete your Georgia EBT Card balance check, please call 1-888-421-3281 or visit the Georgia Connect EBT website.

When are my Georgia benefits deposited into my account?

Georgia EBT benefits are deposited once a month into your EBT account. Benefits are sent out from the 5th to the 23rd. Your deposit date depends on the last two digits of your ID number.

Here is the Georgia EBT Deposit Schedule:

If your ID Number ends in Benefits are deposited on the
00-09 5th of the month
10-19 7th of the month
20-29 9th of the month
30-39 11th of the month
40-49 13th of the month
50-59 15th of the month
60-69 17th of the month
70-79 19th of the month
80-89 21st of the month
90-99 23rd of the month

Can I have someone else help shop with my EBT Card?

Ask your local county food stamps caseworker about setting up an Authorized Representative (AR). The AR will have a separate card with his or her own account number and PIN. The AR will have access to your entire EBT benefit account.

Can I use my Georgia EBT Card in another state?

Yes, your Georgia EBT Card will work at any store that accepts EBT Cards or food stamps in the United States. There are no rules against using your EBT card outside of your state of residence.

However, you are required to report any address change to your local county public assistance office.

How to renew Georgia EBT Card online?

What do I do if I lost my Georgia EBT Card?

If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, immediately call the Georgia EBT Card Customer Service phone number at 1-888-421-3281.

A replacement card will be mailed to you upon reporting that your card has been lost, stolen or damaged. Replacement cards will be received within 5-7 business days.
