This post is going to walk you through the steps on how to create an account for Georgia Gateway. Georgia Gateway is the new online benefits portal used by the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) to manage multiple social benefit programs in Georgia, including the food stamps program.

The Gateway portal has replaced the Georgia My COMPASS website that was previously used to manage and apply for financial assistance benefits. Georgia Gateway Online Portal

The Georgia Gateway website is the home of Georgia’s new eligibility determination system for a number of social benefit and financial assistance programs such as:

  • Medicaid
  • Food Stamps or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Women Infants and Children (WIC)
  • Child Care and Parent Services

You can access benefit information to all of the financial assistance programs listed above by using your Georgia Gateway account. Georgia residents can also complete several tasks by using their online Georgia Gateway account, including:

  • Determine Eligibility for Benefits
  • Apply for Benefits
  • Get the status of an Application for Benefits
  • Get the status of current Benefits
  • Report any changed to current Benefits
  • Submit a Renewal for Benefits
  • View Notices about Benefits
  • Upload Documents for Benefits

The Georgia Gateway website makes it easy for users to access information regarding their benefits from multiple programs. If you are currently receiving financial assistance benefits and would like to access your benefit information or apply for financial assistance benefits, you will need to sign up for a Georgia Gateway account. To create an account for Georgia’s new and improved online benefits portal, the first thing you need to do is go to the Georgia Gateway website here. If you already have an account with Georgia Gateway but need help logging into your account, read our Login Guide here.

If you are a previous Georgia COMPASS user, you can use your COMPASS User ID and Password as your login for the new Gateway portal. If you did not have a COMPASS account, please proceed with the steps below for creating a Georgia Gateway account. Create an Account Create an Account Instructions

Step 1: Once you are on the website, locate the “New to Gateway?” section directly below the Login section on the Georgia Gateway homepage.

Step 2: In the “New to Gateway?” section, click on the yellow “Create Account” button.

Step 3: You’ll be redirected to a new page titled, “Setting Up An Account” (see screenshot below). Please complete the first section titled, “Step 1” by entering your first name, last name, and email address. Create an Account Create an Account page

Step 4: Complete the second section titled, “Step 2” by creating a unique User ID and Password. This information will be used to log into your Georgia Gateway account, so be sure to choose something that you will remember (see the screenshot below). Your Georgia Gateway User ID must contain 6-15 letters and/or numbers – no special characters. The Password must contain 8-15 characters, including a minimum of one upper-case letter, one lower-case letter, and one digit – special characters can also be used. Create an Account

Step 5: Complete the last section on the page titled, “Step 3” by setting up three secret questions for your Gateway account. Select a question from the dropbox menu provided and type the answer in the box below. This information is collected as a security feature used to protect your account if someone other than yourself try to gain access. You may also be asked one of these when trying to recover or reset your User ID and/or Password.

Step 6: Once all three sections have been completed, review all your information to make sure it is accurate. If correct, review and check the box for the User Acceptance Agreement. Please be sure to read the User Acceptance Agreement carefully and check the box if you’re in agreement with the outlined information.

Step 7: Once everything has been completed on the Account Setup Page, click the orange “Create Account” button located at the bottom right of the page.

Step 8: After clicking the “Create Account” button, you will be directed to a new page that states a Confidentiality Agreement. You must select “I Accept” in order to proceed with setting up your Georgia Gateway account (see screenshot below). Create an Account

Step 9: Once you’ve accepted the Confidentiality Agreement, you will have now successfully created your Georgia Gateway account! You will be directed to a login page where you can proceed by entering your User ID and Password to access your Georgia Gateway account.

Once you have successfully logged into your Georgia Gateway account, you’ll be able to start a new application, finish a saved application, check the status of an application, review your current benefits, submit a renewal of benefits and report any changes to your accounts or information (see screenshot below).
