Income Eligibility

Your household income is the most important factor when determining if you are eligible for free food at a local food bank. To be eligible, your total household income must fall below the poverty line.

Specifically, your total household income must be at 130% of the Federal Poverty Level to be eligible for free food. Please note that your total household income should also include any unemployment, Social Security and child support payments you are currently receiving.

Residency Eligibility

The residence eligibility to receive free food at a food bank is pretty simple. All you need to do is provide proof that you live in the Georgia.

Also, if you participate in another federal or state assistance program such as SNAP, WIC, or TANF, you should will qualify to receive free food at a local food bank or agency.

What do I need to provide to get free food?

In order to receive free food, groceries, or a hot meal from a food bank in Georgia, you will need to provide some basic information. You may be asked to provide:

  • A government-issued ID (Driver’s License, Passport or Illegal Alien Card)
  • Social Security Number (SSN)

Last year, the Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia provided more than 13.9 million meals to hungry households across Coastal Georgia. They do this by distributing food to local community partner agencies and programs.
