Every year, the Georgia Salvation Army helps to feed thousands of hungry children and families during the holiday season. The Salvation Army Georgia Division hosts a Thanksgiving Drive that provides children and families with a nutritious Thanksgiving meal.

Buckhead Christian Ministry Thanksgiving Food Assistance

Nonprofit organization, Buckhead Christian Ministry gives out gift cards to families that need help purchasing a turkey or fixings for their Thanksgiving meal.

North Fulton Community Charity Thanksgiving Food Program

Nonprofit organization, North Fulton Community Charities provides a Thanksgiving Food program that serves nearly 500 families with groceries for their holiday meal. Each family receives:

  • Bags of Non-Perishable Groceries
  • One (1) Frozen Turkey
  • Grocery Store Gift Card

The James Brown Family Foundation hosts their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway. Those who attend will receive a free turkey for Thanksgiving.

CAYA Reconciliation Ministries is hosting their meal bag event, “Hen & Fixings” to support the families in their local community. Registered families will receive a complete Thanksgiving meal bag delivered to them for free.

Feeding GA Families Thanksgiving Meal Event

The nonprofit organization, Feeding GA Families is hosting their Thanksgiving meal event for the local community. The event changes every year based on donations. However, typically families will receive a full Thanksgiving meal that can be cooked at home or pre-cooked meat, sides and vegetables.

Lift Up Atlanta Thanksgiving Food Baskets

The nonprofit organization, Lift Up Atlanta has been helping low income families in the Atlanta community since 2011. Every year hundreds of families receive Thanksgiving baskets during the holiday. 

A complete Thanksgiving baskets includes:

  • $20 Gift / Visa Card for Turkey or Ham
  • Four (4) boxes of macaroni & cheese or mashed potatoes
  • 4 canned vegetables
  • 4 canned fruits
  • 2 packages of stuffing/dressing
  • 2 cans of cranberry sauce
  • 1 bag of celery, onions and potatoes each
  • Roasting pan / Turkey bags
  • 1 bag of apples or oranges
  • 1 box of cake mix and frosting or 2 cans of pie filling
  • 2 juices or soda (2 liters or larger)

The Center for Family Resources Thanksgiving Food Boxes

For over 30 years, the Center for Family Resources has helped low-income Cobb County families during the Thanksgiving holiday. Their holiday food boxes provide families with ingredients to cook their own Thanksgiving meals, as well as extra food items for breakfast and lunch. 

Items you can expect to receive in your Thanksgiving food box include:

  • $15 Gift Card to Purchase a Turkey
  • Stuffing Mix
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Instant Potatoes
  • Canned Vegetables & Fruit
  • Pie Shell
  • Roasting Pan

  • Verification of all Household Income for the previous four (4) weeks (pay stubs)
  • Verification of Unearned Income (TANF, unemployment, SSI, Child Support, etc.)
  • Explanation for Household members with no Income
  • Proof of Cobb County Residency (lease or mortgage)

In the Mean Time Ministries Thanksgiving Dinner

Throughout the year, In The Mean Time Ministries gives away more than 1.2 million pounds of food and serves more than 10,000 hot meals to the community. Their annual Thanksgiving Dinner program feeds about 2,000 adults and children.

Second Harvest of South Georgia Thanksgiving for Thousands

The Second Harvest of South Georgia’s annual Thanksgiving for Thousands event has added a second distribution for the first time ever. For just five dollars ($5.00), families will receive a box with 20lbs of food that will feed a family of four (4) for a week.

FOCUS Thanksgiving Food Program

For the past 29 years, FOCUS (Fellowship of Christians United in Service) has distributed Thanksgiving groceries to Harris County residents who cannot afford a traditional holiday meal. This year, nearly 400 families are expected to receive food through the program.
