What are P-EBT Benefits?

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) includes a benefit called Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT).

The bill was signed into law on March 18, 2020, in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus and the illness it causes, COVID-19.

One of the biggest disruptions caused by COVID-19 is the inability of children who receive free or reduced school meals at school to get their meals.

In response to this challenge, Congress created the P-EBT program.

P-EBT is a benefit for children who received free or reduced-price school meals in the 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and the 2021/2022 school year, but their school was closed.

It provides benefits on a P-EBT card, which works like a debit card and can be used to purchase eligible food.

The Georgia Department of Family & Children Services runs the program, together with the Georgia Department of Education (DOE).

Is there an application for Georgia 2022 P-EBT Benefits?

No application is required to receive benefits for the 2020-2021 school term. DFCS and GaDOE will work together to identify families whose K-12 students were enrolled in traditional learning during the qualifying year.

Recipients will receive a P-EBT card by mail at the address listed in the school records.

Based on data provided by DFCS, families should expect to receive the card during December 2021 or January 2022.

How much will my Child Receive in Georgia P-EBT for 2022?

Each child will receive $7.10 in P-EBT benefits for each day the child has an excused absence from school for COVID-related reasons.

For example, if your child missed five days of school in October and seven days in November due to COVID-19, you would get $85.20 ($7.10 x 12).

The $7.10 breaks down as follows:

Breakfast: $2.35
Lunch: $3.75
Snack: $1.00

Total: $7.10
