Georgia families could get more money for food as SNAP benefits in 2022

According to this news report, Georgia received federal approval to hand out food benefits to the youngest food stamps (SNAP) recipients.

These recipients are children under the age of 6 years old.

Here’s what you need to do to qualify for the extra benefit:

For a family of one, a gross income of $1,396 must be met and a net income of $1,074 must be met.

For a family of two, a gross income of $1,888 must be met and a net income of $1,452 must be met.

Eligible families will receive an extra $30 starting in September.

For a family of three, a gross income of $2,379 and a net income of $1,830 must be met.

Extra SNAP Benefits Approved for Children for the 2021-2022 School Year

The United States Department of Agriculture, USDA, has approved extra food stamps benefits for Georgia SNAP recipients for the 2021-22 school year.

For children to qualify for this benefit, they must have been under age 6 at the start of the 2021-22 school year and SNAP-enrolled during the months of August 2021 through May 2022.

Families of eligible children will receive about $30 dollars for each month they were eligible.

These additional food benefits will start being paid out in September 2022.
