What is Georgia Gateway?

The Georgia Gateway online portal (www.gateway.ga.gov) is the website used by the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) to manage five public assistance programs in Georgia.

Currently, GA Gateway online benefits portal provides Georgia residents with access to medical assistance, food assistance, cash assistance, and childcare assistance benefits.

Gateway.ga.gov serves several Georgia benefits programs, including:

  • Medicaid
  • PeachCare for Kids®
  • Planning for Healthy Babies
  • Aged, Blind and Disabled Medicaid
  • Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP/Food Stamps)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS)

The Gateway portal has replaced the Georgia COMPASS website that was previously used to manage assistance benefits.

Georgia Gateway Benefits Portal

The Georgia Gateway portal is the home of Georgia’s new eligibility determination system. The website allows Georgia residents to complete a variety of tasks relating to their financial assistance benefits to the following government programs:

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Food Stamps
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Women Infants and Children (WIC)
  • Child Care and Parent Services
  • Medicaid

By creating a Georgia Gateway account, financial assistance recipients can access their benefits information for any of the programs listed above by using the Georgia Gateway platform. The Georgia Gateway website also gives users the ability to complete the following tasks related to their benefits:

  • Get the status of current Benefits
  • Report any changed to current Benefits
  • Submit a Renewal for Benefits
  • View Notices about Benefits
  • Upload Documents for Benefits

Georgia residents that wish to apply for one of the financial assistance programs listed above, can create a Georgia Gateway account to:

Gateway.ga.gov Login Guide

In order to log in the Georgia Gateway website and access your account to manage and view your benefits, you will first need to go the Georgia gateway website at www.gateway.ga.gov. Once you are the Georgia Gateway homepage, please follow the steps listed below to complete your login.

Step 1: Once you are on the Gateway.ga.gov website, locate the “Gateway Login” section located on the top right of the homepage.

Step 2: In the “Gateway Login” section, enter your User ID into the first field box (see screenshot below).

Step 3: Once you have entered your User ID, proceed by entering your Password into the second field box.

Step 4: After you have entered both your User ID and Password, click the yellow “Login” button.

Step 5: If the Login information you entered was corrected, you will be redirected to your Gateway.ga.gov account homepage.

If you are a previous Georgia COMPASS user, please use your COMPASS User ID and Password to log in the Georgia Gateway website. Your Georgia COMPASS User ID and Password will give you access to the new Gateway portal. Please note that you may be prompted to update or change your User ID and/or Password for the Georgia Gateway website upon login.

Create a Gateway.ga.gov Account

If you do not have a Georgia Gateway account, you will have to create one. To create a Georgia Gateway account, click on the yellow “Create Account” button in the blue box below the Login section.

You will be redirected to a new page where you’ll be asked to provide your first name, last name and email address.

You will also be asked to create a unique User ID and Password (using the requirements listed), as well as set three security questions for your account.

The last step in account creation is to Accept the User Agreement. Please read the User Agreement carefully and check the box if you’re in agreement.

Once everything is completed, click the “Create Account” button located at the bottom of the page.

If the information you provided is accurate, you will now have successfully created your Georgia Gateway account. You should see a confirmation page if your account has been created.

Once your Georgia Gateway account is setup, you will be directed to a login page where you can proceed by entering your User ID and Password to access your Georgia Gateway account.

When you have successfully logged into your Georgia Gateway account, you’ll be able to start a new application, finish a saved application, check the status of an application, review your current benefits, submit a renewal of benefits and report any changes to your accounts or information.

How do I reset my Gateway password?

If you have lost or forgotten your Georgia Gateway password, you can reset that by visiting the Gateway.ga.gov website and following these instructions:

  1. Click the “Manage My Account/Login” button on the Gateway.ga.gov homepage.
  2. On the GA Gateway login page, click the “Forgot Password” link.
  3. Enter your Georgia Gateway User ID and click “Next.”
  4. Verify your identity and follow the instructions to reset your Gateway password.

How do I check the status of my Georgia food stamp benefits online?

You can check the status of your SNAP EBT benefits online through the Georgia Gateway website under the “Check My Benefits” section. You must be logged into your Gateway.GA.Gov online account to view your current food stamp benefits status.

How often do I have to renew my Gateway.ga.gov food stamp benefits?

The renewal period for Georgia food stamps is different for each household. In general, GA SNAP renewal ranges from every 3 to 6 months. 

However, if your household includes a mother and child, then renewal will be required every 6 months. If your household includes someone that is elderly or disabled, renewal certification is only required every 12 months.

Can you renew your Food Stamps online?

Yes, your Georgia food stamp benefits can be renewed online through the Georgia Gateway online portal. You must have a Gateway.ga.gov online account in order to renew your Georgia SNAP benefits online.

      This is not the contact for your local DFCS Office. Please call the Georgia SNAP Hotline at 1-800-436-7442 to find the nearest DFCS Office location to you. They will be the ones conducting the interview with your daughter.

  2. Hello, My name Gary Knowles Jr and I’d like to be able to track my application for SNAP as I need this to get started on a long road to other things. I got out of prison on Apr 2 and applied on Apr 4 but no word yet. How do I log into the website? Seems like all the website does is throw me to all these ads that I’m just not interested in.
