What is Georgia Gateway?

Georgia Gateway is the new online benefits portal used by the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) to manage multiple social benefit programs, including the Food Stamps Program (formally known as SNAP).

The Gateway portal has replaced the Georgia My COMPASS website that was previously used to manage and apply for financial assistance benefits including EBT benefits.

Georgia Gateway Online Platform

The Georgia Gateway website is the home of Georgia’s new eligibility determination system for a number of social benefit and financial assistance programs such as:

  • Food Stamps or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Women Infants and Children (WIC)
  • Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS)

If you are a previous Georgia COMPASS user, you can use your COMPASS User ID and Password to login the Georgia Gateway portal.

However, if you did not have a COMPASS account, please follow the steps below on how to create a Georgia Gateway account.

Follow these steps to successfully create a Gateway.ga.gov online account:

Step 1: Visit the Georgia Gateway Website

To create an account for Georgia’s online benefits portal, the first thing you need to do is go to the Georgia Gateway website. To go to the website, type the following URL into your browser: https://gateway.ga.gov.

Step 2: Go to the Account Registration Page

Once you are on the Gateway.ga.gov website, locate the “New to Gateway?” section on the right-hand side of the page. It is located directly below the Login section on the Georgia Gateway homepage.

In the “New to Gateway?” section, click on the white “Create Account” button.

Step 3: Enter your Personal Information

After clicking the button, you will be taken to the Gateway.ga.gov account registration page. At the top of the page you’ll see the title, “Setting Up An Account.”

Once you see this, begin by typing your first and last name into the appropriate boxes.

Step 4: Provide your Contact Information

Next, enter your contact information including email address and mobile phone number. If you do not have an email address or cell phone number, please check the box next to each section.

Step 5: Choose your GA Gateway Login Information

In the next section, you will be asked to create your Gateway.ga.gov User ID and Password. You will use this information login your Georgia Gateway online account. It is important that you choose something that you will remember, but cannot be easily guessed.

Your Georgia Gateway User ID must contain 6-15 letters and/or numbers, but no special characters (such as symbols).

Your GA Gateway password must contain 8-15 characters, including at least one upper-case letter, one lower-case letter, and one digit. For your password, special characters are allowed.

Step 6: Set your Security Questions

Once you have chosen your Gateway User ID and Password, you will now be asked to select your security questions. These questions will be used if you ever lose or forget your Georgia Gateway password and need to reset it.

Select a question from the dropbox menu provided and type the answer in the box below. Complete this process for the three security questions provided.

Step 7: Read the User Acceptance Agreement

Once all three sections have been completed, review all your information to make sure it is accurate. If correct, then read, review and check the box for the User Acceptance Agreement.

Be sure to read the User Acceptance Agreement carefully and check the box if you’re in agreement with the outlined information.

Step 8: Create Account and Login GA Gateway

Once everything has been completed on the Account Setup Page, click the orange “Create Account” button located at the bottom of the page.

After clicking the “Create Account” button, you will be directed to a new page that states a Confidentiality Agreement. You must select “I Accept” in order to proceed with setting up your Georgia Gateway account.

Once you’ve accepted the Confidentiality Agreement, you have now created your Georgia Gateway account!

You can now apply for and access your Georgia assistance benefits online. Visit the Gateway.ga.gov homepage and login to your account using your User ID and Password information.

Once you have successfully logged into your Georgia Gateway account, you’ll be able to:

  • Start an application for benefits
  • Check the status of an application
  • Submit verification documents
  • Complete a benefits renewal
  • Report any changes to your benefits or household information
